Build a Recommendation Engine from scratch workshop

We will use existing data to build a hotel recommendation based on the description of existing hotel. This will cover the intuition of recommendation engines, some math behind calculating similarity and distance metrics, and compare our model with existing websites such as tripadvisors to show the power of knowing data science/machine learning.

Fangfang Lee

Upon graduating with a master's in Statistics, Fangfang worked as a data scientist for the Biocomplexity Institute at Virginia Tech where she manages projects contracted by the local as well as the federal government. She then traveled to Stockholm, Sweden to work as a data scientist at a startup briefly before returning to New York and fell in love with teaching and sharing her passion in data science.
